I know we might not know each other personally, but I want to get a little personal because I think what I’m about to share might resonate with some of you.

My story isn’t unique—many of you might have gone through something similar or know someone who has.

Both of my parents passed away from cancer. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. And it wasn’t just the emotional toll—cancer puts a huge financial strain on families, too.

At the time, I was fortunate enough to have a job that allowed me to take a few months off and work remotely so I could be with my mom. This was before remote work became common. Those months with her meant everything to me, and I’ll always be thankful for that time.

But even then, I felt the pressure of needing to return to the office. It was always hanging over me. After my mom passed, I knew I couldn’t go back to that life. That’s when I made the decision to go fully remote. Looking back, that choice was one of the seeds that eventually grew into Briefee.

I really believe in a world where we can live and be productive at the same time. And for me, living also means being there for the people who’ve been there for us, even when they’re going through their toughest times. When you’re tied to an office desk, constantly negotiating time off or worrying about how your boss might react, it makes things so much harder.

For a while now, I’ve had this gut feeling that Briefee could be doing more. Not just helping people build their businesses online, but making a bigger impact.

Then it hit me—what if we used this platform to help families going through what mine did? So, we’re setting up a fund to support these families. We’re still building it up, but the goal is simple: ease the financial stress.

Whether it’s medical bills, lost income from time off work, or the daily costs that pile up when someone is fighting cancer, we want to help. I was lucky to have savings and a flexible job, but I’ll never forget the times I had to carry my mom to her treatments because we couldn’t afford a taxi. That’s the reality for so many people right now.

Here’s what we’re doing: for every subscription to Briefee, we’ll donate $1 a month to this fund. Whether someone’s paying $27 or $97, that dollar will go directly to helping families in need.

We’re also covering some costs for therapists on Briefee, so they can offer free sessions to people affected by cancer—whether it’s the patients themselves or their loved ones. I know how much that kind of support would’ve helped me, and I want to make sure others have access to it.

This isn’t about trying to fix everything or find a cure. It’s about helping with the real, immediate challenges families face when cancer upends their lives.

We’re still in the early stages of building this fund, but I know it’s going to make a difference.
